Hi I'm Nuri and this is my journey into software development.
As a 4th grader in 2016 my school computer lab opened access to code.org. After watching a video introduction by the creator of Angry Birds I was fascinated and cautiously dropped coding blocks into a colorful sequence and satisfying clicks of a working algorithm. Once I hit play, the program moved the Red Angry Bird tile by tile to absolutely demolish the King Pig into a cloud of dust. I. Was. Amazed.
I dragged more and more blocks into tall buildings, feeling giddy throughout the process from being able to successfully solve a problem especially after a series of trial and failure. The surge of passion I felt when I solved problems with code endured through middle school, the pandemic, and into high school.
In middle school I taught myself basic Python scripting and learned that HTML was the skeleton of almost all webpages. Later on, with the world opening back up, I built my first React web app and transitioned into learning web frameworks and the MERN stack. I also submitted my first mobile app into my first hackathon which didn't make past the first round.
But I was fine with it, progamming is a hobby that rewards perseverance after all; despite its errors that sometimes takes one day to solve with one reference fix (never happened to me). I continued on, putting myself out there into more opportunities to expand and fail, all while enjoying the process with a passion.
I signed up for Full Stack Developers, a club that taught how to create web applications with a frontend, an API, and a MySQL database. I did the same for CS4Girls, a club connected by a greater organization to provide exclusive CS education in basic Python scripting for elementary-aged girls.
Now, I'm a learning leader in the field, sharing and guiding others through my passion for building apps. Read here to see my resume and past roles.
Thank you so much for reading and happy coding!
